Equality

Kia Ora!
Welcome back to my blog!
Equality... Equality... Equality... Well this word may mean something different to each person reading this. I personally am very passionate about this topic therefore I desided to write my speech for 2020 based on this.

I am apart of the competitive speakers so I can get the chance to speak at zones and in front of the school. Today I presented my speech and now I am making sure I reflect on both the content and presentation. I am happy it is all over now and I think that I have done a lot better than I have ever done before with all of the other speeches I have done.

I haven't been nervous at all coming up to speeches but once I got up there and the few minutes before hand I started to shake and sweat a little. I could feel the red stings in my face as I began to read. I stuttered a little bit at times and forgot some of my speech making me have to look down alot and read off of my cue cards. I am happy though that I moved around a bit and have used some gestures as I was speaking. I am also proud that I kept my cool for the past couple of days. I wish that I learnt my speech a bit better. If I had the chance that's what I would improve on.

Thank you all for coming onto my blog! Thank you even more to have read this far down my blog. Please come back again sometimes and I would love to read some of your comments.
Have you done a speech? How did you feel? Do you like public speaking?

I Have A Dream

Kia Ora

In Rimu we are going to be learning about speeches again this year. We do speeches every year at Yaldhurst. When I found out we were going to be doing speeches soon I was super excited because I usually do really well in speeches and I find it really fun. Before we went into learning about speeches and creating them we have a task to do to make sure our brain was ready for this.We did this by using the 6 mental toughness tools to create a motivational picture to give us hope and to make everything easier. This is my DLO Below.
My dream for how speeches will go is that I improve from last year this means that I don't get nervous or don't get too nervous and to use movement in my presentation this is what I am not the best at.

While I was creating this I was thinking about how this will help me in the future, what I wanted my visualisation to be and what I might need to motivate me for when I do my speedces.
The hardest part for me during speeches is going to be presenting in front of other people and making sure I don't become too scared and aing sure my voice is clear.
The easiest part of this for me is going to be writing and improving my speech because I am a strong writer and always make sure my words are powerful and that my speech makes sense.
I chose these tips for myself because I am going to need these things said to me while im writing or about to present my speech.

Have you ever written a speech before ? What was it about? What would/has been the biggest struggle for you during speeches?

If you are planning on writing a comment on my blog you can use these sentence starters.
Positive- I liked the way you...
Thoughtful- You taught me....
Helpful- I noticed that....
Thanks, Maddie!

How Would You Like To Be A Judge?

Kia Ora!
Welcome to my blog!

Mysteries, Poems and News reports!
What does this mean? Well in Rimu we had a... WRITING COMPETITION.

So what this means is that every student in Rimu class made a piece of writing these were either Mysteries, Poems or News reports! But here's the catch we need YOUR help that's right YOUR help. How would you like to be a judge for Rimu well we need some of you to click and vote on whos piece of writing is the best!

Here's what makes our writing different from others! So every day we have to sign in and to do this we theres a new instruction every day for an exsample it will be what is your eye colour then in our box we would write what it is so this day what we did was type in the first things that come into our head when we think of brain. Then we needed to use some of those words in our writing.
OH by the way the voting ends in week 5 Friday the 21st of August 3:00pm so get those votes in quick!

Thank you all so much for coming onto my blog! If you got the chance to enter into the writing competition what one of the three types of writing would you choose?
Do you have any way that you sign into things like we do every day?
What's the first word that comes into your head when you think of brain? ( Mine was knowledge )

Story Time With Maddie

Kia Ora!

The list!

What is the list well in this world there is a list of words that slowly and slowly becomes shorter and shorter. There is no words like ants or butterflies they have all been cut out and replaced with insects and that is all you can say.
All of the children there have forgotten about those words and each year the list slowly gets cut down and cut down and now there are only 500 words that you can use. But theres a catch, theres wordsmiths their job is to go out away from this world in search of new words and to create word boxes one for each child to learn about the new words each year.

How many words do you need to survive. This world is called ark. This word smith is a young girl name Letta. The list of words cuts down and down until they have to speak in almost a new language. Look at all of those ants becomes Lots of insects. Letta begins to wonder what if one day there will be no more words to speak. She watches as the language slowly slips away.

Want to find out more? Read about it! This story I have been reading is called The List by Patricia Forde

What Is Resilience?

Kia Ora and Welcome to my blog!

What is resilience?
Resilience is having  toughness or having self control so whatever happens to you you are able to bounce back! For an exsample say you have a spring, No matter how far and how long you stretch it the spring always bounces back but the thing is that each time you stretch the spring it grows a little more each time and becomes a little longer. This means that you will be able to learn from what happens and also be able to move on that's what Resilience is .

Reflection
I think that my Resilience is around a 7/10 so far I think that I need to improve in some things I think a way I can do this is to have more confidence and to rely in myself more. I would like to improve on my resilience!! How can you improve on yours?

Thank you for coming onto my blog please come back again!
What did you learn?
Do you have resilience?
What was a way that reselince has helped you?

Quality Blog Commenting!

Kia Ora and Welcome to my blog!

Every tuesday the lovely Miss Morgan come into our classroom after last break to teach us all  about cybersmart and the huge wide web around us!
I worked in a group with Dion and Albin cheek out their blogs to find out more.

We had to watch a few videos about each area of the slides to understand exactly what we are going to do.
The past two weeks we have been working through a Google Slide all about how to address what a comment has and how we can improve it. There was an image of a comment on someone's blog and we got the amazing job to locate what that comment had and what it can improve on.
This was our favorite comment we did together

Because it is a little hard to read here is what the comment says.
Kia Ora Tevini, We are Albin, Maddie and Dion from Yaldhurst Model School.
You're facts about him are very interesting I really liked how you put in that black panther was the first black character in mainstream comics.
We haven't seen the movie but it sounds super cool and if we get a chance we would definitely check it out sometime.
Maybe next time you could re read and make sure to add in capital letters and full stops but this was still a super cool blog post!
What sparked your interest in black panther? When did you first watch the movie?
Thanks!
-Maddie, Dion and Albin from Yaldhurst

Reflection!
I think that this is going to help me alot with improving my future blog commenting that the entire Rimu class does very week. I think that this would help me now because I know what makes a comment good and what  I would need to improve on. It has also given be ideas on what a good blog comment looks and sounds like. I enjoyed this activity although it didn't teach me much but it did make me understand more.

Thank You all so much for coming onto my blog please come back on here again and I would love to see all of your wonderful comments.

Do you like blog commenting?
What's something I could improve on?
What does a quality comment mean to you ?
