Equality

Kia Ora!
Welcome back to my blog!
Equality... Equality... Equality... Well this word may mean something different to each person reading this. I personally am very passionate about this topic therefore I desided to write my speech for 2020 based on this.

I am apart of the competitive speakers so I can get the chance to speak at zones and in front of the school. Today I presented my speech and now I am making sure I reflect on both the content and presentation. I am happy it is all over now and I think that I have done a lot better than I have ever done before with all of the other speeches I have done.

I haven't been nervous at all coming up to speeches but once I got up there and the few minutes before hand I started to shake and sweat a little. I could feel the red stings in my face as I began to read. I stuttered a little bit at times and forgot some of my speech making me have to look down alot and read off of my cue cards. I am happy though that I moved around a bit and have used some gestures as I was speaking. I am also proud that I kept my cool for the past couple of days. I wish that I learnt my speech a bit better. If I had the chance that's what I would improve on.

Thank you all for coming onto my blog! Thank you even more to have read this far down my blog. Please come back again sometimes and I would love to read some of your comments.
Have you done a speech? How did you feel? Do you like public speaking?

  1. Kia ora Maddie,

What an interesting and powerful topic for your speech. I have never heard the term Femicide before so I found that to my very interesting. I wonder why it is such a problem in Mexico?

Racism is a real issue, even here in NZ. I know that I've found the news this year to be very challenging, in fact, it has made me think about how I treat other people around me and the things I think and feel when I see people of colour. It can be very challenge to admit to yourself that sometimes, because of being white, that you have an easier time in life.

Thank you for sharing your speech Maddie. Knowing you and your hard work ethic I am sure you did a brilliant job. I loved your visualisation picture. What a great idea ... did Ms Rennell get you all to do that? I love it.

Keep up the great writing Maddie,
    :0) Mrs Spragg
